Performed
this song in Langebaan live and ad lib for the Harley Haven Club of
Cape Town.
The
beat of the Harley engine we used in the studio as the basic drums.
Typical
biker song with the words just coming into my head as I sing.
Written
in Pretoria Nov 1979. It was a real bad year having suffered a fatal
head on collision on my new Harley,
loosing
my friend in the crash, then a car thief trying to steal my old
Volkswagen Beetle in my garden.
Trying
to stop him he attacked me with a screw driver and at point blank I
shot and killed him.
Front
page news and the court cases that followed was horrendous. I was
finally acquitted but the pressure
of
a murder charge hanging over your head for half a year made me feel
if I was really going toe end up in jail.
There
the words of Jail Song came into my head.
A
song of respect, without it there can't be any love.
Written
in Langebaan on 9 July 2024 at 1:30 am.
A
dedication to all people stuck in toxic relationships.
The
leopard does not change its spots neither will narcissistic people
ever change
I
wrote Spirit of Knysna in the Protea Boulevard Hotel in Witbank in
n1982. I performed in Knysna at the Heads
Restaurant's
Moisture Bar in 1981 and fell in love with the little Elephant Town.
It is a biographical walk thru
Knysna,
Leisure Isle, Brenton, Belvidere, the people and the feel of the
place.
Wrote
this song in 1997 in Johannesburg playing the Hotel Circuit. Used to
walk thru Jouber Park to my Gig and it was a
cold
winter in Jouberg. There was a white Hobo inn the park sleeping on a
Star
Newspaper classified section. I played 8 pm - 2 am and he would
always politely greet me passing by sharing
a
word or two. One day passing thru the Park round 7 pm I
noticed him coughing very badly.
Definitely
a bronchitis cough. I took out a R5 coin which in those days could
buy him a silver "Papsak" of cheap wine.
He
thank me again and again but I remember he never ever asked for any
handout.
It
was bitterly cold when I returned round 2:30 am and I found him blue
cold and dead clutching the half empty "Papsak"
This
touched my heart profoundly and I wrote the song from conversations
we shared.
Wrote
this song in the Fontein Hotel in Bloemfontein in 1982 where I was
performing 6 nights a week on 6 month contract.
I
was invited by SABC Radio Oranje for an interview and had great
airplay on their platform.
Alone
in the night is a deep insight into the mind of Mike Moon and how
one deals with life, loneliness and remorse.
Written
in Cape Town 20 April 2021. Covid restrictions started crippling
life. Money makes this world a hell.
It
changes people and their attitudes and they loose track of
themselves and their relationship with their
families,
lover and friends. You can see people caught in a money
wormhole.
It
very often costs them everything but they don't see it until it's to
late.
They
literally pass through the gates of hell
Wrote
this tune 15 minutes before midnight 32 Dec 2024 in Langebaan. Cut
yourself some slack and relax.
You
cant change the world and peoples views and opinions about you.
It
really does not matter. We had great fun with this song and its very
liberating and vibie.
Money
is a story of my life. The up and downs, decisions made right or
wrong. The reflection of a lifetimes bad and good times.
Through
it all life and the experienced made me feel like a millionaire, but
not in the money sense.
This
is a defiant anthem inspired by real-life survival of a near-death
experience.
Mike
had a huge crash on 9 July 1977 in Pretoria and nearly lost my life
but my friend did.
There
was so much blood all around and in my eyes and n my visor that the
white line on the road looked red
This
is a tribute to Richard....Ride on my friend I ride with u one day
in the sky again.
Duplicate
vocal track except using overdrive.

Bio
of the Moon
Mike Moon Muso is a seasoned South African
singer-songwriter and a self taught musician. Wrote my first song
in 1977.
Practiced 6
years in a back room of my fathers house in Pretoria, South
Africa.
Started play
Pro Hotel Circuit in 1979. Played 66 towns and cities for 17 years
on 3-9 moths contracts.
I kept doing
gigs where and when I could find but I kept writing and composing
but never publishing or recording any.
Moved to Croatia in 2011 and finally got the courage to start
recording some songs but not professionally.
Still I did
nothing to promote guess you always sell yourself short
What I did
discover is that I could paint and still paint today under the
alias Emilio Moon
After retiring in 2018 I finally got chance to start working on my
own material.
Have
written nearly 200 songs, and we sat down and chose the best 10 to
record professionally at EricM in Knysna
Thank you very much for visiting my website and listening to my
music.
